For Raena’s birthday this year we gifted her a guitar because she had expressed a desire to learn.  What we did not get her was guitar lessons as we didn’t really have the availability to fit lessons into our schedule, so I was excited to be able to review the Semester I Bundle from Guitar 360 Method.

The Semester I Bundle is a thirteen week guitar course that includes a three week Absolute Beginner course and two bonus songs–“Don’t Stop Believing,” by Journey and “Rejoice,” by Israel Houghton.

The Beginner Course covers the basics, such as parts of the guitar, tuning, finger warm-up exercises, your first chords and strumming patterns and even learning your first song.  I really like that you’ve learned a song by the time you finish the Beginner course because it gives you a sense of accomplishment to help keep you motivated to continue. If you already have some playing experience, you could either skip the Beginner’s course or just move faster through it.

The Semester course begins where the introductory course left off with skills, theory and technique progressing over the thirteen week course.  The summary of what will be taught is listed at the beginning of each week.  For example, in week five it tells you, “Adding the Minor Scale to our melodic arsenal will extend our range, but especially our creative options in Lead Guitar.  We’ll also learn the basic concept of string bending, as a new articulation.”

The first video in each week is the goal for that week.  Then there are the instructional and practice videos.  Beginning in lesson six there are also quizzes to take. Some of the lessons have downloads to supplement the videos.  The video’s themselves are fairly short–typically under ten minutes long.

After you have completed each lesson you can mark it as complete.  Lessons that you have begun, but not finished, show up with a progress bar.

Raena began with the Beginner’s course.  She loved the instructor, Krisz Simonfalvi.  She said he had a fun and engaging personality that made the video’s enjoyable to watch.  Most importantly, his conversational approach to teaching made her feel as though she were taking them from an in person instructor.  She appreciated that he would point out common flaws in technique and explain why it was preferable to do it the right way.  We both liked that he teaches theory along with technique to ensure learning is well-rounded.

I was really impressed with the quality of instruction that she received and the depth of material that is covered in the course.  I love that she can do it on her own whenever she has time and that she can re-watch the videos.  I also like that the course is ours forever and I can use it with any of my other children who may show an interest in guitar.

Right now you can receive 20% off with the code HOMESCHOOL20.  This would make the perfect Christmas gift for anyone who has had a desire to learn guitar.  So head on over to Guitar 360 Method to get started.

As always, you can read other reviews from Crew members.
