What is ABCmouse.com?

ABCmouse.com is an online learning program designed for ages 2-8. Kids (or parents) can create an avatar that they use to explore and learn.

When your kids sign in, there are four areas they can choose to enter depending on what they want to do: My World, Learning Path, Number Fun Classroom, and the Story/Toddler Time Map.

Children Learn Through Educational Games

For Preschool and Kindergarten, ABCmouse.com covers everything from the very beginning skills to those taught in Kindergarten. A variety of topics are covered in music, art and colors, language and reading, math, and science and health.

For first and second graders, ABCmouse.com teaches topics in language, math, social studies, science, and health that are applicable to their age and grade.

Each of these subjects is taught through different activity types, such as puzzles, art, games, songs and music videos, learning videos, Read to Me’s, and books.

From the parent page, you can see what activities your child has been doing, assign assessments, track their progress and even see a list of books they have read.

Tons of Online Learning Fun!

Both Lenora (3) and Olivia (7) love spending time on ABCmouse.com! They look forward to learning because the activities are such fun.

When they complete an activity they earn tickets. It kind of reminds me of carnival games. Those tickets can then be turned in for prizes, such as accessories for their avatar or hamster.

Lenora loves taking care of her hamsters! By trading in her tickets for hamster accessories she also works on her problem-solving skills by learning which pieces will work the best. Since she can only get more hamster items with tickets, they also provide an incentive to do more learning games and exercises.

Take care to limit the number of online activities our kids do. Especially when they are young. Therefore, those apps and online sites we do allow we want to be top-notch. So far, ABCmouse.com is my favorite online learning program for Preschool. Lenora loves it and I love listening to her sing the songs she has learned around the house or talk about what puzzles she completed.

For Olivia, this is a fun online learning supplement to her homeschool work. She feels like she is getting playtime, while I know that valuable skill reinforcement is also happening.
