Princess Cut {Movie Review}

I love a good wholesome movie–one which projects values similar to mine, that I can watch alongside my children.  I find these are often hard to come by, but when they do I like to share them with others.

I recently received a copy of the movie Princess Cut by Watchman Pictures.  This is a charming Christian romance movie about a young girl searching for Mr. Right while sticking to her standards of putting off a physical relationship until after marriage.  It has a Dove rating of 12+.  I let my ten year old watch it with us and it was fine.  Some of the more subtler ideas she may not have picked up on, but she did enjoy it as a movie and there was nothing in it that made me wish I hadn’t had her watch it.

We invited a group of girls ages 10-15 to view the movie with us.  I enjoyed listening to them shout things like, “No, don’t do it!  Don’t lower your standards!” and “Her friend isn’t being that good a friend.”  And while they all made comments about how it was a cheesy romance film and how the acting could have been better, they all really enjoyed it.  In fact, I think they enjoyed it because it was a cheesy romance film–one that aligned with the standards they hold.

Princess Cut

As a parent, I felt this film had a lot of good talking points to bring up with your youth about how to properly date, the importance of good friends, what to do when you make a wrong choice, how guilt affects your actions, the importance of counseling with your parents and the Lord, and how to wait on the Lord and trust in His timing.

If you are looking for a sweet Christian romance film that the whole family can watch, I would recommend Princess Cut.  You can watch the trailer below.
