What Does A Live Online Algebra I Class with Mr. D Math Look Like?

There are several qualified teachers with Mr. D Math with whom your child can take a class. My daughter, Ellawyn, was in a class with Mr. D himself. Students access the live online class through their portal and log in at their appointed class time each week. Students are allowed to chat with each other until instruction time begins, much like an in-person class.

During the instruction period, students can only send messages via chat with the instructor. Questions are answered out loud by Mr. D for the class to hear.

Engaging Learning Experience

During class, students are looking at a shared screen, similar to a teacher’s whiteboard, where they can see the equations and problems being worked through while listening to the instructor explain.

Mr. D would pause occasionally and have the students work out a solution. Students could choose to send him their answers or ask for clarification via the chat feature.

I loved that even though I couldn’t see Mr. D, I could tell he was smiling. He had a great rapport with the students and is an excellent teacher.

It is easy to notice he loves teaching math. That passion shows in his ability to make math fun, interesting, and engaging for the student.

Benefits of a Live Online Algebra I Class

Accountability – The live online class is held on a set day and time each week. In addition, students will need to turn in coursework by the due dates. Having a set time helps hold students accountable.

Live Tutors – Throughout the week there are a series of live online help sessions the students can attend to ask questions or get clarification.

Engagement – Students get to interact with other students and their instructor. Students go from being passive to active participants.

Flexibility – Even though it is a live class, students have access to a recording of the lesson. If they miss it for any reason or need to remember how something was taught, they can play the recording.

Responsibility – A live online class requires students to take responsibility for their learning. They will need to be on time for class, manage their time for homework, and take the initiative to attend live tutoring sessions if they need help.
