Online Makers Club Just for Kids!

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Elevation Handmade. I received compensation for my time and honest opinion.

These days my ten-year-old is all about clubs, so the idea of being part of The Makers Club through Elevation Handmade hit all the right notes. The Makers Club is a monthly online membership for kids that will elevate their crafting by teaching skills that will benefit them throughout life.

Crafts With a Purpose

My kids love crafts. They will happily cut, glue, and color anything they can get their hands on. The Makers Club moves kids beyond popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners and into making things with a purpose.

From the dashboard, kids can choose the type of “making” they want to do. Some options include machine and hand-sewing crafts, yarn crafts, and clay crafts.

Once they’ve chosen their project, you can download the supply list or click on the links available. Then kids watch the instruction videos and follow along. You can also download written instructions.

As they complete different projects, they can earn badges on the side.

Learn Valuable Skills

Through The Makers Club, kids can learn skills that will benefit them well into adulthood. And it doesn’t rely on you as the parent being able to show them how! In fact, you can learn along with them!

My son (12) and daughter (10) chose to work through the knitting class. My daughter didn’t have the patience to finish her scarf, so she turned hers into a cowl instead. My son, however, discovered he really likes knitting! He not only made a scarf but knitted a hat, as well as some other small projects.

Both could be found carrying their knitting around with them wherever they went. In fact, we had to have a rule that they couldn’t take it to church!

It is not a skill I would have ever thought to teach them, but it is one that will benefit them long term.

Benefits of The Makers Club

It is true that you could search the internet and find videos or instructions to make these same crafts. So why join The Maker Club? For us, there are a few reasons.

First, I don’t have time to be searching the world wide web for whatever craft or skill my kids decide they want to learn. The Makers Club has several different types of crafting they can choose from and they’re all in one place.

Second, it’s a safe space. I don’t want my kids scouring the internet looking for crafts either. I know I can trust that the videos won’t have any language or inappropriate ads they may accidentally click on.
