“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”  ~Matthew 5:16

I am excited to once again participate in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Christmas campaign.  This years campaign is titled “Light the World” and will kick-off on December 1st–the International Day of Service.  Individuals are being encouraged to let their light shine through acts of service to others.

What better way to be an example and share Christ’s love than by serving others as He did?

Our family couldn’t wait to begin serving.  Tying in with a lesson on gratitude for all our blessings, this year we participated in Operation Christmas Child and packed a shoe box full of goodies to be sent to a child in need overseas.  We decided to do a box for both a boy and a girl.  My children were excited to pick out toys and other items to be gifted and pack our shoe boxes.

It was also a good humanitarian lesson for our older children as we discussed why we could or couldn’t get certain toys and why some toys would not be as good as others (ie, character toys where they may not be familiar with the character because of lack of movie access, nothing soldier or war related).

As we spend the rest of this month with our focus on those things for which we are most grateful, we are preparing to #LIGHTtheWORLD this Christmas season by sharing the love of Christ through our acts of service.

We would love for you to join our family in doing at least one act of service for each day in December.  How do you plan to #LIGHTtheWORLD?
