Fun Math Games for Kids to Strengthen Problem Solving Skills

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Beast Academy. I received compensation for my time and honest opinion.

Do your kids like math?

Some kids are naturally drawn to math. They enjoy the puzzle and trying to solve the problem. Other kids may take some time to warm up to it.

They may even think math is boring.

But, you know what? Math can be really fun. When kids have fun while learning math, even the most reluctant can be persuaded to enjoy themselves and learn.

Make Math Time Play Time

With Beast Academy Playground you can develop your child’s love for math while strengthening their problem-solving skills simultaneously. With math games like Bumper Cars, Trashketball, and Sprouts, kids will be looking forward to sharpening their math skills.

For kids who enjoy arts and crafts, they can tap into their creativity while creating a fractal pop-up card made by folding and cutting in a repeating pattern. Or by creating a pop-up dodecahedron.

Math Games for the Whole Family

One of the things I like about Beast Academy Playground (aside from being free!) is the number of math games our whole family can play. Playing math games together is a good bonding experience. And the friendly competition encourages my kids to want to do their best. They are having fun together and as an added benefit working on their problem-solving skills.

Most of the math games on Beast Academy Playground are for ages 4+, but there are a few for 3+, which for our family means there is something for everyone. My littlest doesn’t need to feel left out and can join in on the fun too.

My Kids Favorite Beast Academy Games

Lenora, 5: “My favorite game is Troll Hole because I like to draw the troll.

Troll Hole was a family favorite. Even though her siblings had to add up her score for her, they still enjoyed playing it together. And it was great letter writing practice for her.

Olivia, 8: “My favorite game is the Fox and Hare. I like to be the fox.”

Fox and Hare is a fun strategy game. My kids liked taking turns being the fox and hare. They also enjoyed experimenting with the design to see how it affected their success rate.

Beast Academy math games

My favorite Beast Academy math games were the ones that were rather quick, like Anywhere Nim, Odd Knights, and Odds vs. Evens. Since they didn’t take much of my time, I found it easy to accommodate my children when they wanted to play one. Math games like Anywhere Nim and Odds vs. Evens were great because not only were they quick, but they didn’t require any materials, so we could play in the car or while waiting on things outside the house. They made for great boredom busters.

Math Games with Friends

I found these games were also great to use as filler time in our co-op. I taught the kids how to play and then while they were waiting they had something fun and educational to occupy them.

Including math games in your homeschool is a delightful way to bring in some fun. It is also the perfect way to introduce young minds to big math.

New videos are released every week to the Beast Academy Playground. Be sure to check out the growing assortment of math games they offer and get in on the fun!
